"I
do love love love my home, and especially I love the colors. Thank you
for going through that process with me. It truly makes the place feel
completely mine, and so perfect!" (MZ, Providence, RI)
Before After

Before After
"The paint choices that we have made with your guidance are so on target for us, thank you." (MT, Providence, RI)
There’s nothing better than walking into a space where the color is just right. Paint
color has enormous physiological, psychological and aesthetic impact on
our lives.
Changing the color of our surroundings - even with a thoughtful palette of neutrals - is one of the
easiest, most dramatic, cost effective and enjoyable ways to change an environment.
Living Design Studio knows how color can
be used to bring a room or building to life and to inspire and support
those who live or work there.
My approach to color is to use formal design principles, inspiration and moxie, rather than trends or formulas.
A member of the International Association of Color Consultants, I have color training and knowledge. More important than any knowledge or credentials, though, is a simple sensibility towards using color playfully to create exquisite, ingenious, and deeply beautiful spaces.
As color choice is extremely personal and is specific
to its end-location. I take into account the
following variables, among others, when choosing a color:
• your tastes and preferences • how the space will be used • architectural style of your structure • relationship with other colors in and around your space • neighboring structures • your stuff (furniture, rugs, flooring, lamps, bedding, etc) • historical sensitivities specific to your structure or neighborhood • quality and direction of light (both natural and artificial) in your space
How It Works
•
An initial on-site visit (i.e. in your actual space, in person) includes a look around, questions about style and preferences and initial color suggestions. This may be all that you need, and with the color chips I leave with you, you can go from there on your own.
• If necessary, I will do off-site color work to refine and put together a cohesive palette based on our initial meeting.
• If desired, I will return for a follow-up on-site visit to tape up and look at larger samples of color in the actual
space.
•
Depending on the scope, there may be one visit or multiple visits to
refine and customize color choices to get them just right. Using my eye, knowledge and experience, combined with your feedback, we arrive at final color choices.
• Clients receive a folder with color chips and detailed description of color placement.
• Again depending on scope, consultations may take as little as one hour or as much as ten to twelve hours for an entire interior and exterior space with finely detailed color placement (such as a Queen Anne Victorian). The goal is to make it work for you depending on your needs and budget.
• If glazes, transparent washes, plasters, clays or murals are desired, we will provide referrals for expert and t rusted contractors. (I do not receive commissions from contractors. I refer them simply because they are the best at what they do!)
• Consultations
include access to economical paint sampling services which make this
potentially frustrating process more efficient, less wasteful, more
cost effective and actually fun. • Clients are encouraged to be as participatory as they wish as I view an interactive process to produce the most successful results.
